Before exporting

Use Download CSV after the lookup finishes. The file contains IP, status, country, city, provider, ASN, and time-zone columns. Empty fields are normal when location data is unavailable. Compare the expected number of unique addresses with the result count before downloading.

Open it correctly in a spreadsheet

The file is comma-separated UTF-8 text. If a spreadsheet places a row in one cell, use text import and select comma as the delimiter. Importing the IP column as text preserves its format. Reject automatic conversions that interpret address strings, especially IPv6, as numbers or dates.

Keep context with the report

The CSV represents data at lookup time; provider and location records can change later. Adding the query date to the filename or report notes helps future comparisons. This export does not include a separate query-time column. Review failed rows and unnecessary addresses before sharing the report.

A CSV opening in one column

If a row opens in one cell, do not assume the CSV is corrupt. Choose UTF-8 encoding and a comma delimiter during import, and set the IP column to text. Confirm that IP, status, and country appear in separate preview columns. Before saving again, verify that IPv6 colons and non-ASCII city names are preserved.

Put it into practice

Inspect one public IP, or compare a list of addresses with the bulk lookup tool. Location results are approximate.
